hi mom, how is life in balmy provo. we have also been having ugly
weather. in fact i had to convince elder carranza yesterday to call it a
day early because we were both sopping wet and freezing. He is so gung ho
to work that sometimes thinking about things doesn't have room. i guess
thats my job as junior companion.
ok pictures. one is of elder carranza and me with luz angelica lopez. the
next is of Hermana Cadena and her daughter Vicky. they fed us during the
week when one of our meals fell through, we showed up at their door because
they had told us too when it happened. i'm so grateful for the members
here. they also invited us over sunday to eat. the dogs name is Panchito...
and yes he is a member of the family... the only one catholic, the other
animals of their family the missionaries have already baptized. we are
working with him.
the next picture is a dog that always dances for us when we pass. so we
decided to take a picture... enjoy
this week the appointments mostly fell through again but we were able to
find other people to teach. hna luz will be baptized the 17 of febuary.. so
that is one nice thing about still being here, i will be able to be at the
baptism. and maybe even baptize someone not in our ward boundaries for
other missionaries. We have been teaching a cousin to a less active teenager
who lives in another ward. we passed the reference to the other elders but
continue teaching him when we can. this week his cousin told me that he>
would like me to baptize him, we will have to see if it all goes through.
life goes on in the mission field. i am now the missionary that has been in
mante the longest. Elder Jensen, my beloved DL left for Tampico. we are
baby sitting his companion Elder Castillo right now. Elder Vanhouten of
provo also left today, along with my tio (uncle) Elder Gomez. he has
watched out for me after elder Leon left. so now i'm feeling a little
lonely, but hopefully i will find some friends in this next group of
missionaries. if not, well it is just 6 weeks.
anyway this is Philip signing off. i wish i could see Natalie's blog... i am
able to email dan now, so that is nice, and a source of encouragement.
your son
Philip
